Polyester spandex fabric is known for its unique composition and design, exhibiting excellent windproof properties during outdoor activities.
Polyester spandex fabric is made from a blend of polyester and spandex fibers. Polyester is a synthetic fiber with excellent strength and durability, while spandex has excellent elasticity. Therefore, this hybrid material gives the fabric good elasticity and recovery capabilities, allowing it to maintain its shape during outdoor activities.
The fabric is densely woven to form an effective barrier against wind penetration. It can reduce the penetration of air and effectively prevent wind from passing through the fabric, thus playing a windproof role.
Most polyester spandex fabrics are also treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) coating. This coating provides an extra layer of protection to the fabric, improving its water and wind resistance. It causes water to form droplets on the surface of the fabric and roll off quickly, keeping the fabric dry.
Some polyester spandex fabrics also have a windproof membrane added, sandwiching the membrane between two layers of material. This windproof membrane acts as a wind barrier, preventing wind from passing through the fabric. At the same time, the membrane has good breathability, allowing moisture to escape, making the fabric suitable for outdoor activities.
In addition to the above measures, polyester spandex fabrics also have other treatments that help keep the body warm and prevent the penetration of cold air. This makes the fabric ideal for outdoor activities in cold and windy conditions.
